Savannah Gentry is an award-winning flutist who is committed to teaching the next generation. For the past 15 years, Savannah has been a flute teacher for beginner through advanced students of all ages. Her teaching philosophy is to get a student hooked on learning by showing them their full potential. Many of her students have succeeded in auditions for OMEA All-State Festival, Western International Band Conference, Metropolitan Youth Symphony in Portland, OR, Solo & Ensemble Competitions, and many more. She loves watching her students grow in confidence and musicianship and is looking forward to sharing the joy of music making!

Workshops/Group Classes:

  • In this workshop, extended techniques will be demonstrated through performance and explained how they are executed. Extended techniques on the flute can aid understanding of traditional elements such as tone and technique and this workshop aims to bridge the gap. 

  • A user friendly introduction to MAX MSP software to show the different ways live processing can be used in music performance. A performance of live electronic works to demonstrate will follow the workshop. 

  • We will go through the basics of tone, breathing, posture, rhythm, finger technique, articulation/double/triple tonguing, vibrato, and more! There will be options for beginners, intermediate, and advanced players, however the basic concepts and ideas are the same for all levels. All levels

  • Are you planning to audition for All-State or Honor Bands? Seen a competition you would like to work towards? How about local youth orchestras? Applying for college auditions? Let me know what you are interested in and I will modify accordingly. Topics include: performance anxiety, how to create a game plan/time-line for major performances, HOW to prepare seamless performances, etc. This course will also include two virtual mock auditions with the same format of your applications.
